Lisa Linette Dotson
Lisa Linette Conner Dotson, age 43, of Mill Spring, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Naomi Wilson Conner. Lisa was a homemaker and a member of Cane Creek Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Joey Dotson of the home; son, Randy Allen Dotson of Mill Spring; daughter Jessica Dotson Jackson and husband Travis of Green Creek; brother Vernon Conner of Green Hill; sister Tammy Teague of Gilkey; special nephew Eddie Harmon Jr., and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Cane Creek Baptist Church, Lake Lure with Revs. Ancel Pace, Red Williams and Danny Seigfried officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Crowe’s Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cane Creek Baptist Church.

John Henderson, Sr.
John Albert Henderson, Sr. age 65, of Rutherfordton, passed away Tuesday December 25, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his parents Albert Thomas Henderson and Naomi Conner Henderson as well as one brother Leonard Henderson and one great grandchild Mackenzie Jaylynee Henderson.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Emmaline Biddix Henderson of the home, children – Tonda Champion, Carolyn Grindstaff, John Albert Henderson, Jr., Chris D. Henderson, Jerome S. Henderson, Susan Henderson and Robert Holland, one brother – Michael T. Henderson, a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held 2 PM Friday December 28, 2012 at First Wesleyan Church 700 South Church Street Forest City NC. The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 PM Friday at First Wesleyan Church.

Carl Junior McMahan, 69, of Curtis St. in Morganton went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 23, 2012. Born January 23, 1943 in Yancey County, NC, he was a son of the late Wilk McMahan and Annie May Styles McMahan. Carl was raised in the Baptist faith. He worked for several construction companies, and also as a truck driver for Burke Grading and Paving, and Lowman Grading.
Carl is survived by daughters, Carol Ann Crump and husband, Rick, of Morganton, and Betty Jean Bivens and husband, Raymond, of Vale; sisters Bessie White of Marion, Evelyn Dalton of Forest City, Ruth Epley of Newton, and Mary “Sally” Phillips and Lettie Hoglen, both of Morganton; brothers, Charlie McMahan of Marion and Wayne McMahan of Morganton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd McMahan; and three infant siblings.
A Celebration of Carl’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Donna O’Neal officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Light House Ministries, 1378 Lake View Acre Dr. Valdese, NC 28690.

Mrs. Shirley Jackson Walker, 72, of Forest City, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Hospice House, Forest City.
She was the daughter of the late Ben and Carol Wilson Jackson, and was also preceded in death her sister, Margie Wells; her brother Everette Jackson; and two infant brothers, Clifford and Clyde Jackson. She was a 1958 graduate of R.S. Central High School and graduated with a B.S. in Music Education in 1962 at Applachian State. She taught in Regensburg, Germany in the US Army Elementary School; in the Baltimore County Schools, Rutherford County Schools, and the St. Francis Episcopal Church Kindergarten. She was a Baptist, and served as Music Director at Green River Baptist Church, Camp Creek Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church, Southern Baptist Church, and Spindale Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Walker; her daughter, Carol Dorsey of Bostic; two sisters, Vergie Pittman of Rutherfordton, and Frances Robbins of Forest City; there are 29 nieces and nephews.
The Funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Southern Baptist Church. Rev. Jerry Ruppe and Rev. Clay Earle will officiate. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm Friday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.

Helen Joan White, age 76, of Rutherfordton, died Wednesday, December 26 at Oak Grove Healthcare Center. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Zack and Mattie May Hicks Searcy. She was a retired spinner and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Tommie Earley of Rutherfordton and Jody Earley of Inman, SC; two daughters, Anne Arrowood of Rocklin, CA and Christine Tavernia of Caroleen; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer Lee (Tommie) Earley Sr. and a brother, Parks Searcy.
A Memorial Service will be held 3:30 Friday, December 28 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. William Swink officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:30 prior to the service at the church.
