FOREST CITY — Baby Ruth Hamrick, age 68, died Thursday, July 4, 2013. The funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Thompson's Mortuary and Chapel, Inc. in Forest City. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Thompson's Mortuary and Chapel, Inc. is serving the family.
ELLENBORO — Rickey Gene McSwain, 56, died on Tuesday, July 09, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, at Gantt’s Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Gantt’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary. McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service is serving the McSwain family.
Alice Virginia Lemons
ELLENBORO – Mrs. Alice Virginia Lemons, 90, of Arbian Drive, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Dovie Hayes Boone. She was a member of Mt Olivet Baptist Church in Hopewell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Martin Lemons; two sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by her two daughters, Pat Willis and husband, John, and Kathryn Grigg; two sons, Billy Lemons and wife, Rose, and Buck Lemons, all of Ellenboro; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends, Thursday, from 6 until 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held Friday, at 11 a.m., at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery in Hopewell.

Rickey Gene McSwain
ELLENBORO — Rickey Gene McSwain, 56, of Autumn Circle, Ellenboro, died on Tuesday, July 09, 2013, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born on May 16, 1957, a son of Bobby Gene McSwain of Mooresboro and the late Catherine Ann Callahan McSwain. He was a retired mechanic. Rickey was also a member of Gantt’s Grove Baptist Church. He loved racing, raced R-C Racing and loved camping and being outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Street McSwain; one son, Michael Chad McSwain and wife, Barbara of Shiloh; one daughter, Kristi McSwain of the home and fiancé Scott Morrison of Mooresboro; one brother, Eddie Dean McSwain of Shelby; one sister, Teresa McSwain Hamrick and husband, Richard of Boiling Springs; his grandchildren, James Paxton McSwain, Savannah Morgan McSwain, Thomas Austin Granger, and Haley Louise Granger.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013, at Gantt’s Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Lane and Rev. Owen Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the Gantt’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary.
