Rev. Jesse Mills
Jesse Mills, age 69, of Columbus, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Baptist Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Crowe’s Mortuary.
 
Richard C. Feldmeth, Jr. 
Richard C. Feldmeth, Jr., age 54, of Rutherfordton, passed away suddenly Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Park Ridge Hospital.  
He was a native of Paramus, New Jersey and was a son of the late Richard Feldmeth, Sr., and Claire Feldmeth of Rutherfordton. He loved sports, gardening, fishing, cooking, and his family.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one son, Richard Charles Feldmeth, III and one daughter, Jamie Lee Feldmeth, both of Chicago, IL;  one step-son, Larry Steve Peacock, of Ft. Myers, FL; three sisters, Deborah Rath and her husband, Ernest of Mt. Pocono, PA, Marie Fladung and her husband, Steven of Berthoud, CO, and Cathy Kinter and her husband, Jim of Rutherfordton; one brother, David Feldmeth and his wife, Dollie Smith-Feldmeth of Hendersonville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Forest City.

Jewell Conner Simmons 
Jewell Conner Simmons, age 72, of 81 Porter G. Simmons Rd., passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the wife of Johnny C. Simmons and daughter of the late Clyde Freeman and Lillie Brown Conner. She was a lifelong
homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny C. Simmons of the home; son, Kenneth Wayne Conner of Old Fort; brothers, Carroll Conner and Jerry Conner both of
Tryon, Jack Conner of Newton, Ray Conner of Marion and Pat Conner of Old Fort; sisters, Josephine C. Brown and Karen C. Harris, both of Marion, Peggy C.
Davis of Old Fort. 
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lillie C. Hodge.
The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at a
later date in Old Fort, NC.

Dulcie Lee Hill McKenzie
Dulcie Lee Hill McKenzie, age 89, formerly of Spooks Branch Road, Asheville, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013. 
Mrs. McKenzie was born May 13, 1923, in Rutherford County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She was formerly the assistant manager of the S&H Green Stamps Store, retiring in 1985. She was a long-time member of Beaverdam Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late John and Katie Callahan Hill of Rutherfordton, NC and wife of the late Guy Troxell McKenzie who died in 2005. 
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. McKenzie was predeceased by the following brothers and sisters and their spouses: Carroll and Mattie Hill, Ray and Maebell Hill, Blanche and Fred Earley, all of Rutherfordton, NC. Ruby and John Biggerstaff of Forest City, NC, and M. D. and Margaret Hill of Cecelia, KY. 
Surviving are her son, Guy Thomas McKenzie of Sky Valley, Ga. and grandson, Scot McKenzie and wife Christina of Wilmington. She is also survived by a number of nephews, great nephews and great nieces. 
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Beaverdam Baptist Church with the Rev. Daniel Reese officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service. Burial was in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaverdam Baptist Church, 399 Beaverdam Rd., Asheville, NC 28804.

Joyce A. Lynch
Joyce A. Lynch of Spindale, age 71, died Friday, February 1, 2013, at Hospice of Rutherford County. 
Joyce Annette Webster Lynch was born in Rutherford County on October 27, 1941, to the late Lee Wess Webster and Mary Madgeline Lynch Webster. Her address changed around 6 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2013. She began working as a nurse's assistant in 1964 and graduated from Gardner Webb College with an Associate in Arts Degree from the School of Nursing and became a registered nurse in 1971. She was a dedicated employee for 40 years and recognized as the first African American to be hired as a nurse at Rutherford Hospital. She was a long standing member of Russell Tabernacle C.M.E. Church where she served in various capacities. 
She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted husband, Clifton L. Lynch; her daughter, Renee' Lynch of Conroe, Texas; her son, Keith Lynch  and wife, Zelda of Chester, Va.; one sister, Elizabeth Barnes (Nookie) of Beachwood, Ohio; adopted brother, Carl Carroll of Johnson City, TN; one uncle, Joe Webster  and wife, Janie of Asheville, N.C., two granddaughters, Anissa and Kayla; four great granddaughters Amiya, Elise, Elexis, and K'Dria; one great grandson K'Yondre; her mother-in-law; five sister-in-Iaws; two brother-inlaws; one devoted cousin, Mary Waddell; a special friend, Tonnie Harris; and a host of relatives including nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 
Mrs. Joyce Lynch was loved by many. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend to all she came into contact with. Her presence, smile and wit will truly be missed. All who knew her will cherish those memories and we will carry them in our hearts forever. Her famous saying was "treat everyone like you want to be 
be treated." 
Funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at New Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be at Ulysses D. Miller Funeral Service on Thursday from 12 noon to 5 p.m.
Ulysses D. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Haynes Duncan
Elizabeth Haynes Duncan, age 76, of Union Mills, NC, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at her home.  
She was a native of Rutherford County and the daughter of the late Everette Haynes and Molie Arrowood Haynes. Elizabeth had worked for Broyhill Industries and was a member of Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church.  
She was preceded in death by her son Amos Doss Duncan.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Clarence "Sonny" Duncan; one daughter, Brenda Green of Forest City; grandchildren, Meagan Duncan, Zachary Duncan, Amy Hamilton, Crystal Boone; great grandchildren, Harley, Anthony and Addison; three sisters, Martha Mathis of Spindale, Sarah Spence of Union Mills, and Grace Lane of  Rutherfordton.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at McMahan's Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 7, 2013 with Revs. Jack Crain, Jerry Campbell and Benny Duncan officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

Peggy Hannah
Peggy Hannah, age 85, of Rutherfordton, died on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at her residence.  
She was a native of Florence SC and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Al Hannah; three sons, Randy Edwards of Charlotte, Gary Edwards of Gastonia, Curtis Edwards of Forest City; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 7, 2013, from 3 to 4 p.m., at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 4 p.m. with Rev. William Swink officiating.
