Donald Eugene Early
MARION — Donald Eugene Early, age 84, died Saturday, February 2, 2013. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Westmoreland Funeral Home. Memorial may be made to Hospice of McDowell County, 575 Airport Road, Marion, NC 28752.
 
Jaylan Starr Wages
FOREST CITY — Jaylan Starr Wages, infant daughter of Teresa Wages died Friday, February 1, 2013. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Harrelson Funeral Home is caring for Jaylan’s Family.
 
Michael Dean Kelly
CLAREMONT — Michael Dean Kelly, 50, died Saturday, February 2, 2013. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, at 1 p.m. at Kistler’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton. The body will be placed in the church from 11:30 to 12:45 p.m. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation following service at Kistler’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The Kelly Family is in the care of Robert F. Bennett, Funeral Services.
 
Steve Lipscomb
RUTHERFORDTON — Steve Douglas Lipscomb, age 67, died Monday, January 28, 2013. No formal services are planned. Crowe's Mortuary is assisting the Lipscomb family.
 
Ira Lee Briscoe Adkins
Ira Lee Briscoe Adkins, age 77, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Monday, February 4, 2013, at White Oak Manor Nursing Home.
She was the daughter of the late Tommy Johnson and Effie Mae Guffey Johnson. She was a native of Rutherford County and a member of Oak Springs Baptist Church. 
Ira Lee was first married to the late Doyle Briscoe. She was preceded in death by a sister Lucy Vickers.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Adkins; one daughter, Crystal B. Holbert and her husband, Wesley of Tryon; three stepsons, Tim Adkins and his wife, Tracy of Shiloh, John Adkins and his wife, Rhonda of
Mooresboro, and Chris Adkins and his wife, Lisa of Ruth; two step daughters, Sheila Hall and her husband, Curtis of Rutherfordton, and Lisa Davis and her husband, David of Caroleen; one sister, Frances Heaton Bailey and her husband, Bill of Morganton; one grandchild, Jessica Fitch and her husband, Joe; three great grandchildren, Morgan, Kyle and Mason.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, at McMahan's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Oak Springs Baptist Church at 3 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2013, with Rev. Don Hollifield and Rev. Darold Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Sue Mitchem Oyler
Sue Mitchem Oyler, age 68, of Forest City, NC, died Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Hospice House of Rutherford County.
She was the daughter of the late John Mitchem and the late Opal Gallion Mitchem. Sue was a native of Rutherford County. She was a lifelong member of Oak Springs Baptist Church.  She was a graduate of R-S Central High class of 1963. She loved her high school class of 63. Sue was the widow of the late
Kenneth L. Oyler. 
She was preceded in death by a brother Jimmy Mitchem. At Sue's request the urn of Kenneth Oyler will be interred with her.
She is survived by one son, Shane Briscoe and his fiancee, Connie Nelms of Forest City, NC; a stepdaughter, Lila Smith and her husband, Robbie of Simpsonville, S.C.; one sister, Christine Beck and her husband, David of Union Mills, NC; two brothers, Larry Mitchem and his wife, Ruth of Townville, SC and Bruce Mitchem and his wife, Diane of Rutherfordton, NC; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at Oak Springs Baptist Church at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2013, with Rev. Don Hollifield and Rev. Ray Hooper officiating. Interment will be at Oak Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Oak Springs Baptist Church, for the building fund,  2509 Rock Road; Rutherfordton, NC 28139 or Hospice of Rutherford County; P O Box 336; Forest City, N. C. 28043.

Dulcie Lee Bill McKenzie
Dulcie Lee Bill McKenzie, age 89, formerly of Spooks Branch Road, Asheville, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013. 
Mrs. McKenzie was born May 13, 1923, in Rutherford County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She was formerly the assistant manager of the S&B Green Stamps Store, retiring in 1985. She was a long-time member of Beaverdam Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late John and Katie Callahan Bill of Rutherfordton, NC and wife of the late Guy Troxell McKenzie who died in 2005. 
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. McKenzie was predeceased by the following brothers and sisters and their spouses: Carroll and Mattie Bill, Ray and Maebell Bill, Blanche and Fred Earley, all of Rutherfordton, NC. Ruby and John Biggerstaff of Forest City, NC, and M. D. and Margaret Bill ofCeeelia, KY. 
Surviving are her son, Guy Thomas McKenzie of Sky Valley, Ga. and grandson, Scot McKenzie and wife Christina of Wilmington. She is also survived by a number of nephews, great nephews and great nieces. 
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Beaverdam Baptist Church with the Rev. Daniel Reese officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service. Burial was in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaverdam Baptist Church, 399 Beaverdam Rd., Asheville, NC 28804.
