Jean Anders Vickers

Jean Anders Vickers, age 71, of Gardenia Lane, Rutherfordton, NC formerly of Vine Street, Forest City, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at her residence.
Jean was born March 17, 1941 in Rutherford County, NC to the late James Avery Anders and Doris Hargett Anders.  She was a graduate of R-S Central High School, class of 1959 and a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church.  She worked for over 30 years for Stonecutter Mill and for Smith Drugs for several years.  Jean enjoyed writing, reading, needlework, scrapbooking, gardening, flowers and going to the Outer Banks.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Bobby Dean Vickers; one brother, Robert Anders and one sister, Nancy Ruppe.
Survivors include one son, Michael Kevin Vickers of Ellenboro; two daughters, Elizabeth Vickers Getty of Asheville and Crystal Denise Tate and life-partner, Richard Dobbins of Bostic. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Shane Gettys, Lauren Gettys, Aaron Vickers and Ashlyn Vickers.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Paul Simpson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.  Inurnment will take place at Southern Baptist Church Cemetery on a later date.

Elbert J. Lamb

Elbert J. G. Lamb of Rutherfordton died February 1, 2013.   He was son of the late Cleo and Ida Smith Lamb.  He was married to his beloved wife, Mary Strange Lamb, for 64 years.  He was a member of Sandy Springs First Baptist Church and was a retired farmer.  He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Dale S. Lamb (Tina) of Cornelius, NC; a daughter, Debra Lamb Justice (Bobby) of Inman; a granddaughter, Krissy Allison Justice (Keith) of Inman; a grandson, Lane Allison of Inman; four great grandchildren; a brother in law, Leroy McCraw and two nieces, Sonya Stott and Denise Wheeler.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Edna McCraw and Ruth Gramling and a brother, Maurice Lamb.
The family will receive friends Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 1:30-3:00pm at  Sandy Springs First Baptist Church located at 382 Sandy Springs Road, Rutherfordton.  Funeral services follow at 3:00pm at the church conducted by Rev. Philip Bailey. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Kenneth J. May, 75, of Mooresboro, died Friday, January 18, 2013.  No formal services are planned.
