Ray Wyatt
ELLENBORO — Ray “Squeaky” Wyatt, age 77, died Tuesday, September 24, 2013.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Friday, at the Souls Harbor Tabernacle. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC  28043. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
 
Ruth Roberson
RUTHERFORDTON — Ruth McKinney Roberson, age 89, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday at Southern Baptist Church and a memorial service will follow in the church at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Southern Baptist Church, 140 Church Street, Rutherfordton N.C. 28139. McMahan's Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
 
Gail Louise Talley
Gail Louise Talley, age 70, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013, at her residence.
Gail was born October 15, 1942, in Mt. Holly, Burlington County, New Jersey to the late John Austin Okie and Dorothy McClaskey Okie. She received a B. A. in English from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey) and a New Jersey secondary school teacher’s certificate. Over the years, she had numerous occupations beginning with being a High School English teacher in Trenton, New Jersey, and ending with being an assistant bank manager, Rockville, Maryland. In between, she was a management analyst, Army Electronics Command and a tax reviewer, IRS Service Center, both in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She has been retired since 2003, when she moved to Rutherfordton from Rockville, Maryland. Previously she lived in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Gail loved and played tennis for over 40 years. She belonged to numerous tennis clubs and played in many tournaments and leagues and won many trophies. She often was the captain of a club or league team. Perhaps her favorite team was the “Happy Hackers” in Maryland.  
She enjoyed travel. She took Caribbean and Mediterranean cruises and traveled to Bermuda, Mexico, numerous Caribbean Islands, France, Monaco, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Holland, England, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Turkey. She was interested in our National Parks and in wildlife conservancy. She traveled to many National Parks such as Yellowstone, Gran Tetons, Glacier National Park, Grand Canyon, and Arches, Bryce, and Zion. She was interested in day hiking and hiked the Appalachian Trail through Maryland from Pennsylvania to Virginia.  
She enjoyed gardening and back yard bird watching. She enjoyed reading of all kinds, especially mystery books. She did a cross-word puzzle daily (in ink). In her forties she learned to play the organ and often played it at home. In her later years she took up golf and bridge.
She was active in the Rutherfordton Presbyterian Church, serving as a Circle Leader, usher, and member of committees and projects. She was involved in outreach programs such as the soup kitchen at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church and Meals on Wheels.
Gail is survived by her husband of 46 years, John Russell Talley, of Rutherfordton; and her sister, Dorothy Gehery of Hamilton Township, Mercer County, New Jersey; a niece and a nephew, and special aunts, cousins, and friends.
Gail’s body has been cremated and her ashes will be interred privately by her family.  A memorial service for Gail will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the Rutherfordton Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Donald Scofield officiating. Visitation will be at the Rutherfordton Presbyterian Church at 1 p.m. before the memorial on Saturday.

Philip Grover Padgett, Jr.
Philip Grover Padgett, Jr., 72,  of Williamsburg, VA, died Sunday, September 22, 2013, at The Hospice House after a valiant battle with cancer.
A native of Kings Mountain, NC, Mr. Padgett was born February 21, 1941. He was preceded in death by his mother Charlene McNeill Cooper Padgett and father Dr. Philip Grover Padgett. He was the grandson of the late Cornelia Hinkle McNeill Cooper May of Galveston, TX and Baltimore, MD and Harry Reginald Cooper of New York, NY and of the late Tilden Rucker Padgett and Cleo King Padgett of Forest City, NC.
Mr. Padgett is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elizabeth Bradshaw Padgett and his daughter, Charlene Elizabeth Padgett of Arlington, VA. He is also survived by his siblings: Cornelia "Connie" Padgett Ramsey of Petersburg, VA; Priscilla Padgett Blanchard of Running Springs, CA; Charles Cooper Padgett of Durham, NC; and Miriam Moller Lovett of Winston Salem, NC. Mr. Padgett had nine nieces and nephews: Catherine Ramsey; Susan, Lewis and Christopher Blanchard; Jennifer and Kenneth Padgett; and Stacey, Daniel and Stephen Bradshaw; one grand-niece, Emily Grace Blanchard; numerous cousins and many devoted friends.
After graduating from Hampden Sydney College in 1964 with a degree in History and Economics, Mr. Padgett completed United States Air Force officer training and flight navigation school prior to serving as navigator on a B-52 bomber for five years, achieving the rank of captain. During his time in the service, Mr. Padgett was stationed in Guam and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Padgett worked in the financial industry for more than 37 years. A graduate of the Ross Perot School of Stock Brokerage in Los Angeles, CA, he remained as an instructor until the school was sold to Merrill Lynch. At that time, he began a long association with Merrill Lynch as a broker in Los Angeles, CA, a Vice President of Tax Shelters in New York, NY and a broker specializing in Tax Shelters in Houston, TX.  Mr. Padgett also worked for Dean Witter in New York, NY. For eight years, Mr. Padgett was President and COO of Oxford Securities in Bethesda, MD. For three years, Mr. Padgett was a wholesaler for Putnam Investments. Additionally, Mr. Padgett was Senior Vice President and manager of First Union Securities then Wachovia Securities in Tyson's Corner, VA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Mr. Padgett to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 3529, Williamsburg, VA 23187-3529 or The Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg, 4445 Powhatan Parkway, Williamsburg, VA 23188. 
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 27, 2013, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg, VA.  A  memorial service will be held on Saturday, September, 28, 2013, at  2 p.m. at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, 215 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA with a reception to follow in Stevenson Fellowship Hall.
 
Robert Lyon Henrioud
Robert Lyon Henrioud, 80, died on September 17. 
He was born in Crescent City, FL and resided in Alpharetta, GA until his passing.  
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Henrioud; two daughters, Pamela Deck of Rutherfordton and Sherry Staniewicz of Cumming, GA; sister, Patricia Langley of DeLand, FL; sister-in-law Barbara Henrioud of East Point, GA; four grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 
In addition to his parents, Clarence and Essie Ivey Henrioud, he was preceded in death by his brother, Homer Henrioud.  
Celebration of Life Service will be held 2 p.m. on September 28, at Northside Independent Methodist Church Sandy Springs, GA. The family will receive friends following the service.

Ray “Squeaky” Wyatt
Ray “Squeaky” Wyatt, age 77, of Ellenboro, NC, went home to be with his Saviour, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his family and  friends.
Ray was born February 2, 1936, in Rutherford County, NC, to the late Archie Elijah Wyatt and Lucy Leona Hammett Wyatt. He was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1954 and worked for Burlington Mills for thirty-eight years before his retirement.  He was a member of Soul’s Harbor Tabernacle in Mooresboro. Ray enjoyed fishing and making homemade rugs. 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Wyatt.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Irene Randolph Wyatt; four daughters, Debbie Bragg and husband, Ron of Ellenboro, Donna Summerow and husband, Cliff of Lenoir, NC, Karen Greene and husband, Roger of Conover, NC and Tammy Wellman and husband, David of Forest City; son Billy Ray Wyatt and wife, Hazel of Simpsonville, SC. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles “Doc” Wyatt of Caroleen and Earl Wyatt and wife, Bobbie of Washington State; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Friday, September 27, 2013, at the Souls Harbor Tabernacle with Reverend Chuck Poole officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

T.C. Smith
CLIFFSIDE, NC — Mr. T.C. Smith age 87 went home to be with the Lord on September 24, 2013, while being cared for at Oak Grove Health Care Center. He was a native of Cherokee County SC and of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Clyde Smith, Sr and Vada Shehan Smith; his wife, Juanita Davis Smith; and two brothers, Leonard Smith and A.G. Smith.
Surviving are two sons, Wayne Smith and wife, Debbie of Cliffside, Wesley Smith also of Cliffside; three daughters, Wanda Pritchard and husband, Joe of Cliffside, Janet Craft of Ellenboro, and LaDonna Hart of Boiling Springs, SC; one brother, Bill Smith of Shelby; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
At his request, no formal services will be held. The family will conduct a private service at a later date.

Dache’ Christopher Gossett
Mr. Dache’ Christopher Gossett, age 21, of Henrietta, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013. 
Dache’ was born September 12, 1992, in Rutherford County. He is the son of Scott Gossett and Tammy Dover. He was employed by Merritor of Forest City and was a 2010 graduate of Chase High School, where he was a member of the football, basketball and baseball teams. Dache’ was an energetic, humorous young man who loved his family and friends. He is remembered for his glowing eyes and beautiful smile. 
He was preceded in death by a loving grandfather, Crawley “June” Dover. 
He is survived by his parents; three brothers, Shawnn Gossett of Hendersonville and Tyreece and Da’Quan Gossett of Henrietta. He has two sisters, Chelsea Gossett of Forest City and Rudy Burns of Ellenboro. He is also survived by two grandmothers, Melrose Dover of Sandy Mush and Sue Gossett Hines of Forest City. 
The body will lie in state one hour prior to services. Services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013 at New Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church in Forest City at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Doggett’s Grove Cemetery.
