RUTHERFORDTON — David Bradley, age 50, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013. A Memorial service will be held 12 p.m., Saturday, at Apostolics of Rutherford County, 136 West Main Street, Forest City. Dorothy “Dot” Cook Ward
Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Cook Ward, age 80, of the Oakland Community, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013.
Dot was a daughter of the late Rev. W.A. and Mae Cook and was the loving wife of the late E. Hicks Ward. Dot was retired from A & G Construction Company and devoted her retirement years to her grandchildren, her gardening, and her churches. At Adaville Baptist Church, Dot was a tireless volunteer and a Sunday School Teacher for four decades. She was also a long-time board member and volunteer at the Church of the Exceptional.
Dot is survived by her children, Jean Fletcher and husband, Robert, Steve Ward and wife, Carol, Cathy Therrell and husband, Charlie; grandchildren, Benjamin Fletcher, Emily Byers and husband, Scott, John Ward and fiancé, Catalina, Eleanor Ferrier and husband, Andrew, Jill Beaver and husband, Brent, Betsy Friedrich and husband, Stephen, Sarah Riska and husband, Josh; great grandchildren, Sarah Grace Friedrich and Holden Grace Riska; one brother, Warren Cook and wife, Thea. Dot is also survived by Dorlis, Cheryl, Lisa, Patsy and Karen whose loving care allowed her to remain at home.
A celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday September 7, 2013, at Adaville Baptist Church with Rev. Cal Sayles officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Concluding services will be held at Adaville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bessie H. Davis
UNION MILLS — Bessie Ree Harmon Davis, 83, of Coney Island Road, Union Mills, died on Tuesday, September 03, 2013, at SECU Hospice House of Rutherford County.
A native of Rutherford County, she was born on July 29, 1930, a daughter of the late Hammie Wade and Emma Parris Harmon. She was a retired nurse and member of State Line Baptist Church of Gaffney.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Dean Davis; one daughter, Sherry Hatcher; one brother, Bud Harmon; one sister, Jeraldine Phillips; one grandson, David Crotts.
She is survived by her son, Michael L. Davis and wife, Christine of Largo, FL; one daughter, Sallie Conner and husband, Michael of Union Mills; one brother, Wilson Harmon and wife, Dorothy of Winston Salem; one sister, Rachel Phillips; her grandchildren, Shane Cline, Jeff Cline, Zoey Davis, Michelle Crotts, Dillon Conner, J.P. Conner, Codey Hatcher and Jesse Hatcher; 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 07, 2013, at the A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John Godfrey officiating. Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, September 09, 2013, at The Western North Carolina Veteran’s Cemetery of Black Mountain. Visitation will be held from 3 until 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 07, 2013, at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service and at other times at the home of Rachel Phillips, Winn Road, Mooresboro.

Gentry Ray Fish
LAKE LURE, NC – Gentry Ray Fish was born and called home Wednesday, September 4, 2013.
He is survived by his parents Chad and Tiffany Fish of Lake Lure; one sister Reyna Lynn Fish of Macon, GA; maternal grandparents Danny and Kelli Brinegar of Lake Lure; Becky and Mike Whiteside of Rutherfordton; maternal great grandparents Emma Elliott, Ted and Pat Williams and Sybil Whiteside; paternal grandparents Everette and Lorenia Fish of Forest City.
Gentry Ray was preceded in death by Addie Raye Fish, Carl “Joe” and Hazel Brinegar, James and Helen Elliott, Roy Elliott, Karen Williams, William Audley and Marguerite Martin, Utha and Ella Fish and Max Whiteside.
Services will be held 5:30 p.m., Saturday, September 7, 2013, at the family home 287 Melrose Road, Lake Lure, NC with receiving of friends from 4 to 5 p.m. prior to the service. Rev.
