Ernestine Bailey Gold
Ernestine Bailey Gold, age 95, passed away on March 25, 2013.  
She was born on July 17, 1917, the third oldest of seven children, in Heath Springs, SC to Ernest Jackson Bailey and Bessie Lee Floyd. After completing high school in Lancaster SC, she attended Erskine College. In 1937, she became a staff member to Congressman Prilleou Richards of South Carolina. While in Washington D.C., she met Charles Fortune Gold. They married in 1946 and returned to Rutherfordton, NC several years later. Ernestine was active in many local organizations including Rutherford County Politics, the Lamar Stringfield Music Club and the American Legion. She was a member of numerous bridge clubs and was devoted to her friends in the Sunset Beach Bridge Club. In 1962, after her husband's death, she began working as the secretary to the Rutherfordton Elementary School principal.  She remained in that position for over 40 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth, married to David M. Shaver living in Swannanoa, NC and Patsy, married to Robert L. Cram living in Indianapolis, IN. 
Ernestine dearly loved every member of her Bailey and Gold families, all her "adopted children" and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday April  1, 2013, at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Rutherfordton with the Rev. Chris Fair Beebe officiating. A gathering for family and friends will follow afterwards in the Parish House.
The family requests no flowers, but memorials in Ernestine's memory may be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 46, Rutherfordton NC 28139. ( Ernestine joined this parish at the time of her marriage. The church has been a constant source of love and devotion.

Ms. Mary Ann Freeman
SHELBY – Ms. Mary Ann Freeman, 66, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.  
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Enos and Ethel Davis Freeman. 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Denise Humphries.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Scott Humphries of Forest City; brother, Dean Freeman and wife Lona of Kings Mountain; two grandchildren; two nieces; two great-nieces; and two great nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.

Rush Shull Nanney, Jr.
MOORESBORO - Rush Shull Nanney, Jr., 79, of South Pea Ridge Road, Mooresboro, died on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Charles George VA Medical Center, Asheville. 
A native of Cleveland County, he was born on April 06, 1933, a son of the late Rush Shull Nanney, Sr. and Georgia Ledford Nanney. He was a truck driver and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Edessel Kennedy Nanney; one daughter, Tammy Regeana Nanney; two brothers and one sister. 
He is survived by his wife, Billie Jo Nanney; one son, Douglas Keith Nanney; one daughter, Janet Lancaster; three step-sons, Randy Smith, Jim Smith, and Jeff Smith; three brothers, Marvin Nanney, Wayne Nanney, and Hubert Nanney; one sister, Mary Ann Talent; one grandchild, Jesse Lancaster; four step-grandchildren, Sky Smith, Erin Smith, Jonathan Smith and Vanessa Smith.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Nanney will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2013, at the A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Hawkins officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service.

Fred Street, Jr.
FOREST CITY, NC — Fred Street, Jr., age 82, of Woodset Drive, Forest City, North Carolina died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at his residence.  
Fred was born March 19, 1931, in Buladean, North Carolina and was a son of the late Fred and Flora Garland Street. He attended Tipton Hill High School in Mitchell County, NC and Lees McRae College on a basketball scholarship. Fred went on to NC State and graduated with a degree in agriculture. He served four years in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and also four years in the Naval Reserve. He worked with Ralston Purina and also served twenty years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (Farmers Home Administration). Fred then retired on the farm with his beloved Angus Cows, garden and John Deere Tractor. 
Fred was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul B. Street of Buladean and sister, Charlotte Street of Johnson City, TN.
Fred leaves to cherish his memories, a wife of 58 years, Johnnie Grant Street of the home; two sons, Fred Street, III and wife, Suzanne of Southport, NC,  Bob Street and wife, Robin of Forest City. There are also four granddaughters, Lindsey Street of Raleigh, Katie and Matt Mansour of Port Richey, FL, Emily Street of Nashville, TN and Sally Walker of Forest City; two great-grandchildren, Camden Aleczander Walker and McKenzie Mansour. There are also two sisters, Doris Bryant of Falls Church, VA, and Mary Lee of Columbia, SC.
The family will receive friends to celebrate the life of Fred on Friday afternoon from two until four o'clock at the home of a son, Bob and Robin Street, 159 Turnberry Way, Forest City.  His ashes will be placed in the Columbarium at the Banner Elk Presbyterian Church at Lees McRea College in Banner Elk, North Carolina at a later date. No formal services are planned by the family.
