RUTHERFORDTON — Elizabeth Bailey Gold, age 95, died Monday, March 25, 2013. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by McMahan's Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Gussie L. Young
Funeral services for Mrs. Gussie L. "Sister" Young will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the New Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church in Forest City, NC with the Rev. Leroy Staley officiating. The burial will follow in the New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Spindale, NC. 
Gussie was born to the late Eli and Vera Littlejohn on March 16, 1931. 
Gussie was preceded in death by one brother, E.G. Littlejohn; and one son, John Patrick Littlejohn.
Gussie leaves to cherish her memories, a husband of 58 years, Dumont William Young, Sr.; eight children, Ann Boykins of Spindale, NC, Dumont William Young, Jr. and Daisy of Spindale, NC, Louis Young and Louise of Australia, Eva Staley and Billy of Polk County, Vera Banks and David of Forest City, NC, Hattie Young of Forest City, NC, Blease Young and Beverly of Shelby, NC, Becky Young of Virginia; three brothers, Columbus Littlejohn and Barbara of Charlotte, Weldon Littlejohn and Tillie of Forest City, NC, and Nepoline Baxter of South Carolina; one sister, Syble Holman of Newark, NJ; one special niece, Shirley Davis; a special nephew, Henry Littlejohn; one great nephew, Andre Littlejohn and Elizabeth; one extra special grandson, Elmer Lee Littlejohn; four special daughters adopted in love, Tammy Hunt, Amy Miller, Nicole Patterson and Margret Macapson; two uncles, Perfus Littlejohn and Elmer Littlejohn, Sr.; one aunt, Slyvain Macapson; 33 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gussie Young have been entrusted to the Thompson Mortuary and Chapel, Inc.
Pauline “Polly” Howell
SHELBY — Mrs. Pauline “Polly” Howell, 91, of Shelby, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013.
A native of Rutherford County, she was born May 9, 1921, daughter of the late Forrest and Bessie Bridges Jones. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who always put family first. Her family was truly the love of her life. She was also a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church which she loved very much.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Grover Howell, Jr.; one daughter, Judy Goforth; one brother and six sisters.
She is survived by one son, Thomas Howell, III of Spindale; one daughter, Cathy York and husband Skip of Lawndale; one brother, Robert Jones and wife Lee of Norfolk, VA; six grandchildren, Jackie Buckner, Ann Matheney both of Spindale, James Morrison of Forest City, Mark Howell of Winston Salem, Travis York of Cherryville, and Justin York of Shelby; 14 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 7 p.m., Thursday at Bethel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the church. Dr. Tim Sims and Dr. J.M. Ezell will be officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m., Friday at Sunset Cemetery.

Virginia Bostic Waters
Virginia Bostic Waters, born November 11, 1933, in Ellenboro, N.C., died on March 24, 2013, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who loved her family and children very much.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; Samuel and Ethel Vogt Bostic; son, Gregory Waters; and brother, Samuel L. Bostic Jr.
Left to cherish Virginia’s memory: husband, Billy B. Waters; daughter, Patti and John Taylor; son,            Billy  and Terena Waters Jr., and Andy and Amy Waters; grandchildren, Dallas  and Suzie Taylor, Shannon and Todd Stansberry, Hayden Waters, Tyler Waters, Bryce Waters, Misty Holman, Mandy Hewitt, Michael Reidling; and great  grandchildren, Colby Taylor, Gunner Taylor, Eli Norris, Taylor Norris, Jonah Norris, Samatha Holman, Chelsea Holland, Mike Reidling Jr, Marty Reidling, Bryan Holland; sisters Lorelei Hightower, Ruby Silvers; brother, Bert Bostic, and many nieces and nephews. 
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, at the North Chapel Chattanooga Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Burial will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Virginia’s memory to a charity of choice.

Rush Shull Nanney, Jr.
MOORESBORO - Rush Shull Nanney, Jr., 79, of South Pea Ridge Road, Mooresboro, died on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Charles George VA Medical Center, Asheville. 
A native of Cleveland County, he was born on April 06, 1933, a son of the late Rush Shull Nanney, Sr. and Georgia Ledford Nanney. He was a truck driver and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Nanney. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Edessel Kennedy and also by one daughter, Tammy Regeana Nanney. 
He is survived by his wife, Billie Jo Nanney; one son, Douglas Keith Nanney; one daughter, Janet Lancaster; three step-sons, Randy Smith, Jim Smith, and Jeff Smith; two brothers, and  one sister, Mary Ann Talent; one grandchild, Jesse Lancaster; four step-grandchildren, Sky Smith, Erin Smith, Jonathan Smith and Vanessa Smith.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Nanney will be held at 4 p.m, on Friday, March 29, 2013, at the A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Hawkins officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service.
