Jared Brooks
FOREST CITY, NC — It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jared Matthew Brooks, 26, son of David Brooks of Forest City and Patty and Reid Hammett of Forest City.
Jared is survived by his life-partner, Laura Hamlin; his sons, Joshua and Jason Brooks; his sister, Kristi Brooks and her son, Brett Ezekiel of Forest City; his brother, Justin Brooks of Forest City; and his sister, Madelynn Hammett of Forest City. Jared is also survived by his grandparents, Mike and Freida Chapa of Forest City, Ralph and Martha Bailey of Ellenboro and Susan and Shane Atkins of Forest City. Also surviving Jared are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends who cared deeply for Jared.
Jared was predeceased by his beloved Mimi, Linda Harris Chapa, and his grandfather, Reid Hammett, Sr.
There are always many questions when someone dies young, but one thing we will never question is the love that Jared had for his family and friends. Jared could always be counted on for a smile, a hug, and an, “I love you.” Even in the worst of times, we knew how Jared felt and we hope that he knew how we felt about him. Jared was always willing to share what he had, including his own body. He begged to donate a kidney to his Mimi when she was in need. Though he wasn’t able to help her, Jared was an organ donor through Life Share and we hope many other families were able to benefit from Jared’s continued generosity.
Jared was given to God as a baby by his parents at Florence Baptist Church. Our prayer is that God was waiting for Jared on March 19 with open arms.
The family plans a Visitation on Sunday, March 24, 2013, at the Forest City Clubhouse at 141 Westview Street, Forest City from 2 until 4 p.m.
