SPINDALE— David Steve Logan, 55, died Monday, November 25, 2013. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Ulysses D. Miller Funeral Services.
Willard C. Crotts
FOREST CITY— Willard C. Crotts, 56, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013. A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Monday at the M&T Ministries Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
Deborah Lynn Harris
RUTHERFORDTON— Deborah Lynn Harris, 60, died Friday, November 29, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Crowe's Mortuary and Crematory is serving the family.
Ret. Major Edward M. Harkness
Ret. Major Edward M. Harkness, age 66, of Mooresboro, NC, died Monday, November 25, 2013 at his residence.
Born June 23, 1947 in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Darrell and Kathryn Harkness. He was a graduate of Penn State University, class of 1968 and was a retired Major in the US Army. Edward was a veteran of the Vietnam War and after retiring worked as a contractor with Logitec for many years. He had a passion for woodworking and will be known for his grand sense of humor, his comprehensive knowledge of “almost” everything and his ability to make strangers feel welcome. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Craig Harkness.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Harkness; daughter, Tracy Sue Short and husband, Bill of Forest City; son, Michael Andrew Harkness and wife, Kristie of Spindale; three step-sons, Mitchell Sherwood of Mooresboro, Scott Goodman of Boise, Idaho and David Goodman of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; step-daughter, Kristal Goodman of Mooresboro; six granchildren, Kaitlyn, Adrianne and Madison Harkness, Adam, Emily and Elaina Short.
A private family service will be conducted on a later date.

Beth Anne Barnes
Beth Anne Barnes, 43, of Boiling Springs Road, Mooresboro, died on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, she was born on December 24, 1969, a daughter of the late Larry Myles Barnes, Sr. and Peggy Harris Barnes of Mooresboro. She was a Teacher’s Assistant with the Cleveland County School System and was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of Mooresboro.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sons, Nathan Gregory Barnes and wife Brittany Woody of Rock Hill, SC and Terrence Twitty of Delaware; one brother, The Reverend Larry Barnes, Jr. and wife Dawn of Fayetteville; one sister, Tammy Barnes Fox of Lenior; her nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Don Ledford, Michelle Fox, Joshua Sisco, Kelli Jane Barnes, Kayla Barnes, Tie Barnes, and Landon Barnes; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 03, 2013 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of Mooresboro. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00pm-9:00pm on Monday, December 02, 2013 at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service.
