2013 Women Together event includes two arts exhibit; raffle
Two free art exhibits at Isothermal Community College's Performing Arts Center are a part of the 2013 Women Together Event next weekend.
Lilly Oncology on Canvas, an art exhibition honoring the journeys people face when confronted by a cancer diagnosis, and works by Statesville Stained Glass will be on exhibit Feb. 1 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on Saturday, Feb. 2 from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Lilly Oncology on Canvas is presented by Lilly Oncology in partnership with the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship.
Works by Statesville Stained Glass is owned by Rutherford County native Al Rhyne and his wife, Lisha, and the company specializes in glass designs that narrate Bible history. The couple have done many projects for area churches, including 10 stained glass pictorial windows at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Florence Baptist Church in Forest City.
Rutherford Regional’s medical staff members will be recognized with a dinner and keynote address by Dr. Richard P. McQuellon, the director of Psychosocial Oncology and Cancer Patient Support Programs at Wake Forest University School of Medicine/Comprehensive Cancer Center. The dinner and speaker are provided by Lilly Oncology and the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship.
The Pink Ladies Cancer Support Group will also be honored with a luncheon as part of this year’s events, thanks to a generous sponsorship by Smith’s Drugs of Forest City.
The fun of Women Together doesn’t end on Feb. 2. Rutherford Regional Health Foundation is also holding a raffle ticket sale for a chance at three different prize packages – a package from the Forest City Owls, including two season tickets; a garden cart filled with tools and décor from Lowe’s; and a weekend getaway on Seabrook Island from Larry and Libby Harrill.
Tickets are $5 each or five tickets for $20, and can purchased at the art exhibit and before the Jeanne Robertson’s performance. Tickets can also be purchased at Rutherford Regional’s Gift Shop and Cancer Resource Center and at Smith’s Drugs of Forest City. The drawing will be held March 15.
