Give thanks to vets

Nov. 11, 2012 @ 06:00 AM

Today is the 94th anniversary of what was billed as "The war to end all wars" but, the name has been changed over the years because, unfortunately, the harsh reality is that it wasn't the last.

But, in marking the armistice that was agreed on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month closing hostilities in 1919, we think ahead and, since that time, there have been countless numbers of veterans who have given of themselves, to protect our country and all that it provides.

From World War II to Vietnam and Korea to the Gulf War and beyond, American veterans have elected to serve, even if it meant giving the ultimate sacrifice.

For that, and so many other things, they deserve our thanks.

And, to those that continue to serve, we also express our heartfelt thanks for continuing to serve in harms way, defending our nation until there is a time where all war is brought to an end.
