SHELBY —
Jury selection is to start next week in the trial of a man accused of killing a Shelby woman nearly 10 years ago.
Fifty-three-year-old Donald Borders of Cherryville was arrested in 2009 and charged with raping and killing 79-year-old Margaret Tessneer.
District Attorney Rick Shaffer said evaluating DNA evidence delayed the trial.
Jury selection is to begin Jan. 14. Shaffer says the trial will take about a week.
Taft Borders says his nephew continues to maintain his evidence.
