Former Gaston officers sentenced to prison
Two former officers in Gaston County have been sentenced to prison for their pleas to conspiracy and extortion charges last year.
U.S. Attorney Anne Tompkins said Wednesday that Frankie Dellinger and Wesley Clayton Golden were sentenced in federal court in Charlotte.
Dellinger, Golden and Mark Ray Hoyle were caught in an FBI sting operation in 2012.
Dellinger was a reserve officer with the Cherryville Police Department and Golden was a reserve captain with the Gaston County Sheriff's Office.
Dellinger was sentenced to three years in prison and must serve two years of probation and pay a $400 fine.
Golden was sentenced to 20 months in prison, one year probation and a $200 fine.
Hoyle must serve 21 months in prison and two years on probation and pay a $300 fine.
