Isothermal board of trustees meeting with state president
The president of the North Carolina Community College System, Dr. R. Scott Ralls, will meet with the Isothermal Community College Board of Trustees today at 9 a.m. to discuss the college’s search for a new president.
The meeting will be held inside the Business Services building at ICC.
Current president Dr. Myra Johnson announced her retirement — effective June 30, 2013 — during the Nov. 13 trustees meeting.
“A few days after Dr. Johnson announced her retirement, the Executive Committee of the Board met to start talking about the hiring process,” said Mike Gavin, Director of Marketing and Community Relations. “The committee called this meeting as a result. “In addition, Dr. Scott Ralls will be here from the system office to answer any questions the trustees may have.”
Ralls is the seventh president of the North Carolina Community College System. With 58 colleges serving approximately 900,000 students each year, it is one of the largest higher education networks in the United States and is internationally recognized for programs that foster economic and workforce development.
