Artists portfolio show today at Isothermal

An Isothermal Community College 2013 Portfolio Show will be held Thursday,  April 25. Second-year students in Isothermal’s Applied Sciences department’s Advertising & Graphic Design program will display their work during the public show. The exhibit will be held in the main hall of the Student CenterBuilding on campus. 

The 2013 Graphic Design Portfolio students have included the Photography Portfolio class and the Mechanical Drafting Technology class in the show. in the Graphic Design students featured will be Alison Darrow, Judith Darrow, Bryson Fish, Aaron Godfrey,  David Guffey, Wallace Hamilton, Carly Kauffman, Samantha Kincaid.

Several of the students will have photos from their previous Photography Portfolio showing available.  There will be a number of prize-winning examples of t-shirt designs, holiday cards, posters, and book covers and more.  Some examples of graphics students already producing “real world” work are Samantha Kincaid’s t-shirt design which was selected for the 66th Annual Tryon Hunt Club’s Steeplechase event, Alison Darrow’s commissioned illustration for a proposed architectural renovation of the Retro Cinemas building in Forest City, and Carly Kauffman’s redesigned brochures for Historic Carson House in Marion and newspaper layouts for several editions of the new Relax Bilingual Magazine.

Photography Portfolio class students Haley Bedford, Mark Edwards and Daniel Putnam will be exhibiting many award-winning black and white film photos, color film and digital photography, and examples of their computer photo editing skills. These

 Mechanical Drafting Technology students Dustin Beason, Cody Talley, Jessica MCrimmon and John Dennis will display a wide variety of drawings and assignments that represent their skills. 

This one-day show is from 10:30 a.m. – 2p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.
