A 55-year-old Forest City man is in serious condition at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after his moped was hit Wednesday morning by a 2003 Buick.

Ricky Wayne Marlow of Forest City was airlifted from Spindale to Spartanburg where he is being treated in the hospital's intensive care trauma unit for head injuries.

Marlow was traveling east on U.S. 74B when his moped was struck by the Buick, driven by Eunice Toms Yelton, 89, of Forest City.

Sgt. Aaron Collins of the Spindale Police Department said Yelton was making a left turn onto Callahan Koon Road in Spindale and failed to yield right of way, resulting in the collision.

She was on her way to the Rutherford County Senior Center.

Yelton was transported to Rutherford Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released.

The collision is still under investigation, Collins said.
