Carver School on Spindale agenda
The Spindale Board of Commissioners will hear a presentation concerning the revitalization of the Carver School park during their regular meeting on Monday.
Edna Michael and Wayne Jernigan will address the board on "Project for Change," a nonprofit engaged in planning a renovation of the basketball court and softball field located behind Carver in Spindale.
"We would like to give Spindale a place where the community can go to get active and have family activities," stated the nonprofit organization in a letter of intent. "We want Spindale to have 'Carver's Place.'"
The board will also review, discuss and vote on management's recommendation for two amendments to the Schedule of Fees.
The first recommended amendment proposes that the Town consider charging a fee to private developers engaged in projects that necessitate Town acceptance of infrastructure systems such as sewers and roads.
The second asks the Town to include a $100 charge for the naming of streets to town residents who wish to rename their street.
This fee is to include a sign, post, installation and listing in the E-911 database.
Other business will include a proclamation by Mayor Mickey Bland to designate April 15-26 as "Spring Clean Up" time in Spindale.
This month's meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Spindale House.
