On Sunday evening, December 1, the congregations in the Central Rutherford Churches Association (CRCA) will host an interdenominational Advent Candle Walk and Lighting on the lawn of the Spindale House at  6 p.m.

This brief service observes the beginning of the season of Advent, which is a preparatory time for Christ’s coming at Christmas. Congregational members gather at their church site and walk from their site to Spindale House. They sing carols and carry lighted candles as they process to the Spindale House lawn.

The pastors of the congregations conduct the brief service, which includes the reading of the Christmas story, the singing of Christmas Carols, prayers, and a brief meditation.

Spindale Mayor Mickey Bland brings greetings and turns on the lights of the community tree.

The public is invited to participate. Candles are not provided, so participants must bring their own.
