A former financial officer with Hospital Corporation of America has been named the new Chief Financial Officer for Rutherford Regional Health System (RRHS).

RRHS has appointed Jeff Rush to serve as the new CFO and Vice President of Finance for the hospital based in Rutherfordton.

Rush comes to RRHS most recently as interim CFO for Angel Medical Center in Franklin.

“I have known about the excellent reputation of Rutherford Regional Health System throughout my entire health care career,” Rush said in a statement. “I am very excited to join this outstanding health care organization as the Chief Financial Officer and I know this position will provide me an exciting, challenging, and rewarding opportunity.”

He has 34 years experience as a health care CFO, including over 20 years of financial, operational and senior executive leadership experience in for-profit and not-for-profit health care organizations in urban and rural communities across North and South Carolina.

His work experience includes appointments as Vice President of Financial Operations for Acuity Healthcare in Charlotte, NC; CFO for Union Hospital District in Union, SC; CFO for Mary Black Health System in Spartanburg, SC; and 26 years as a hospital CFO with Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) and several spin-off companies of HCA.

“Jeff’s experience will be an invaluable asset to our organization. He has worked in a wide variety of health care organizations, and he also has worked with organizations who went through the same affiliation process we are currently pursuing," said RRHS CEO Cindy Buck. "I’m extremely pleased that he is joining our executive team at an important time for Rutherford Regional.”

Buck was the hospital's former CFO before being moved to her current position as CEO earlier this year.
