The newest local businesses on the block

Four places to relax, indulge and enjoy
Jul. 09, 2013 @ 12:37 PM

Looking for a place to get a haircut or manicure? Want somewhere to enjoy live music and dancing? Need a new spot to sip wine or grab lunch?

Rutherfordton is now home to four new businesses, including Foothills Music Hall, Salon 74, Charlene's Lunch Box and Rumour Has It.

Foothills Music Hall features local and regional artists across several genres, from country to bluegrass.

"Our intention is to put as much music in here as we can," said proprietor and musician Danny Hardin. "This is a place for good music without any alcohol or riff-raff."

Salon 74 prides itself on being a "family-friendly environment, affordable and flexible," according to stylist Jenni Bradley.

"Having just graduated cosmetology school, we are also much more updated in the newest and latest salon techniques," Bradley said.

Charlene's Lunch Box boasts homemade lunch treats and summertime fare, including burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and all the fixings.

"People will enjoy our food because it is home-cooked and homemade," said owner Charlene Johnson.

Rumour Has It offers a place for people to unwind and relax while enjoying local North Carolina wines as well as international varieties by the glass and bottle.

"When the women's support group Cork Chixx started, there was a real need for a place to accommodate everyone," said co-owner Tammy Rowland. "So we incorporated Cork Chixx into the wine bar to allow the group to have a home and weekly place to meet and become more involved in the community."

These new local merchants offer patrons a chance to be pampered, entertained and simply enjoy themselves.
