Judge Davis will name interim Clerk of Court
Resident Superior Court Judge Tommy Davis of Forest City has the task of naming an interim Clerk of Court to fill the unexpired term of Robynn Spence, who died Sunday at Mission Hospitals in Asheville.
“Robynn was a strong person and it is so sad to lose her in such a sad and untimely manner,” Davis said Monday night. “Our hearts go out to her family as we grieve and continue to remember Robynn.”
“Although the circumstances are difficult, we expect the operation of the clerk’s office to continue to serve the public in a timely manner as appropriate decisions are made,” Davis said.
State law says the Senior Resident Superior Court Judge will name an interim who will serve up to 30 days at which time a clerk will be named to complete Spence’s term of office that ends the first of December 2014.
Last Monday Spence filed for re-election at the Rutherford County Board of Elections.
The interim and the replacement can, but does not have to be the same person, Elections Director Debbie Bedford said Monday morning.
Since this is an election year, there is no need to conduct a special election, Bedford said.
Davis will name an interim from among Spence’s six assistant clerks.
