Rutherford County unemployment drops to 10 percent
Rutherford County's jobless rate dropped to its lowest levels in five years.
According to a report released Thursday from the North Carolina Department of Commerce's Labor and Economic Analysis Division, the county's unemployment rate was 10 percent for the month of October.
That is down 2.3 percent from the same time last year.
Due to the federal government shutdown, the report also included September's unemployment rate. Rutherford County's jobless rate was 10.3 percent in September.
In October, the county's workforce was calculated at 26,210 while the number of unemployed was 2,621. For the month of September, the labor force in Rutherford County was 26,008 while the number of unemployed was 2,690.
