A New Year's dinner at Lake Lure
Lake Lure Smoke House owner, Tim Turner, stirs a pot of sauce for the pork he cooked up Tuesday for the "southern style" New Year's Day meal.
With the pork, he also had Hoppin' John with Black Eye Peas and collard greens.
With Turner is son, Tim Turner, Jr. The meal was also a benefit for the Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach Ministry as 15 percent of all sales Tuesday were given to the nonprofit group.
The meal was ready and hot when the polar plungers came out of Lake Lure at about 12:01 p.m., about one minute after the fifth annual Polar Plunge began.
