Police continuing murder investigation in Spindale

Police are continuing the investigation into the homicide of Jeffrey Lee James, 43, of Nebraska Street in Spindale, who died early Saturday morning after being shot at Mingle City Sports Bar & Grill in Spindale.

Police Chief R.A. McIntosh is in Winston-Salem today as an autopsy is being performed at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

The Spindale Police Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are looking for the person or persons responsible for the death of James, who working security at the bar and grill Friday night and Saturday morning.

McIntosh said Spindale police responded to a fight call at the sports bar and grill, located off U.S. 74A  at 1:30 a.m. and upon arrival a large number of people were exiting the building and were attempting to leave.

Officers discovered a male victim lying on the ground near a vehicle that was adjacent to the building.
Spindale police and the SBI are seeking any information regarding the incident.
