Fugitive arrested at Lake Lure checkpoint

LAKE LURE — A checkpoint conducted in Lake Lure by Lake Lure Police Department Corp. Scott Haynes and Officer Tyler Greene on Wednesday morning led to the arrest of Anthony Glenn Cox, 54, with an address in Mill Spring.

According to police, Cox gave false information to the officers when he came through the checkpoint which led to further investigation.

Anthony Cox was on the run as a fugitive from Alabama. 

He was apprehended and taken to Rutherford County Detention Facility charged with extradition/fugitive from other state, fictitious information to a police officer, resisting a public officer, possession of stolen goods, driving while license revoked and operating a vehicle with no insurance. He is confined on a secured bond of $41,000.
