Lake Lure board adopts ordinances

Lake Lure Town Council adopted two ordinances Tuesday night during its regular business meeting at the municipal center.

An ordinance regarding the definition and regulations related to portable signs and sandwich board signs was approved and an ordinance from the Lake Structure Appeals Board regarding modifying the procedures for processing matters to be brought before the board was also approved.

The board accepted a memorandum from the Zoning and Planning Board of a proposed concession agreement with Lake Lure Tours submitted by board chair Thomas McKay.

A request from the 1927 Lake Lure Inn and Spa concerning gazebo bookings for 2015 was approved and the board also extended its  agreement with the North Carolina State Employees Credit Union to lease ATM space. 

Economic development resolution passed

RUTH — Ruth Town Commissioner approved a resolution regarding expansion and economic development when it met on Nov. 4 at Town hall. The resolution was presented by Matt Blackwell, executive director Economic Development Commission.

Commissioners thanked David Ferguson and his team for their work in putting up the Christmas decorations and lights.

The board learned JBH Landscaping is in the process of trimming the mall trees along Railroad Avenue and Brad Hill and his employees were also thanked for their work.

Larry Hutchins also received a work of appreciation for his efforts in keeping the Town of Ruth looking great during the holiday season.

Garbage pick-up day changes

BOSTIC — Commissioners in Bostic decided at its recent meeting to allow a water customer to have an adjustment on a water bill due to a water leak.

The board announced the Bostic Lincoln Center will have its annual Christmas Gathering on Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m.

Beginning in January, garbage pick-up will be on Tuesday.
