"This is such a wonderful event for the community and it has certainly grown over the years," said Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach (HNGO) Director Hope Wittmer, as she scanned the vendors and crowd of festival-goers at the Fall Lake Lure Arts & Crafts Festival Saturday afternoon.
St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 194 St. Johns Church Road, Lake Lure is hosting a special program at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 19, to honor pastor, Rev. Edgar Lee Waters, Jr. for his 43rd years at the church.
As more than 600 people gathered at the official ground breaking of the new Lake Lure Classical Academy recently, Russ Pitts, a founding board member of the school, flew his small "drone" high above the crowd and the school property, to the delight of more than 325 school children attending.
The Mary B. Mullen Bible Camp, Inc. has served the Lake Lure community for 108 years and its board members are optimistic about the next century.
