Stewart Briscoe will assume the duties as Public Works Director for the Town of Forest City on July 1. He will fill the vacancy of Bob Daniels, the current Public Works Director, who will retire on June 30.

Daniels has worked with the Town for 30 years and has  lead the Public Works Department since December 2009.  Stewart has worked with the Town since 1988.

Briscoe is a graduate of Isothermal Community College. His duties for the town have included working in the Inspections Department from 1988-1994; serving as the Purchasing Agent and Warehouse Manager for Public Works from 1994-2000; working in the Water Distribution Department from 2000-2001 and since 2001 resuming his career as Purchasing Agent and Warehouse Manager.

Prior to coming to work for the Town of Forest City, Briscoe worked in Rutherford County’s Building Inspections Department, as a private contractor, and served as store manager at Henson Timber at the Ruth location.

City Manager John Condrey said “Stewart’s vast knowledge of the Town’s Public Works Department was viewed by the selection committee as a huge asset when considering him. His knowledge of the Town’s water and wastewater collection systems, water and wastewater plants, the electrical system, the streets, sidewalks, cemeteries and all the facets of Public Works  made him a very strong candidate.Stewart has some big shoes to fill in replacing Bob but the selection committee  has confidence in Stewart’s knowledge and ability.  In addition, it is obvious that Stewart enjoyed tremendous respect of town employees throughout all departments.”
