Driver's foot slides off brake pedal, causing collision
Traci Lee Logan, 41, of Forest City, was taken to Rutherford Regional Medical Center by Rutherford County EMS Friday evening after an accident involving two motor vehicles near the intersection of Oak Street Extension and U.S. Highway 74A in Forest City.
Logan was driving a 2001 Dodge and stopped at a traffic light on Oak Street Extension when her vehicle was rear-ended by a 2011 Nissan being driven by Marcy Ellen Horn, 43, of Spindale.
Horn told police she was stopped behind Logan at the traffic light, but stated that her feet were wet from the rain and slid off the brake pedal causing her vehicle to roll forward and strike Logan's.
According to the officer's report, Logan initially denied medical service and later advised that she and her passenger, Joseph Simmons, wished to be checked by medical services.
Logan and Simmons were transported to Rutherford Regional and Logan's vehicle was secured in the Waffle House parking lot.
As a result of the accident, Logan's vehicle sustained minor scratching.
Horn's vehicle also sustained minor damage to the front bumper, consisting of some scratching and paint transfer.
Horn was charged with failure to reduce speed.
