Former White House economic policy director to address symposium Tuesday

A former White House director of economic policy under President George H.W. Bush will be guest speaker Tuesday at 9 a.m. at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy in Avondale.

Todd Buchholz will address the symposium devoted to "Economics and the Fiscal Cliff" that is open to the public and will be held in the high school's Leitner Auditorium.

Buchholz is the winner of the Harvard University economics department’s teaching prize, was named “One of the Top 21 Speakers of the 21st Century” by Successful Meetings magazine, and is the author of several books, including New Ideas from Dead Economists. He is a former Harvard economics teacher, a frequent commentator for ABC News, PBS and CBS. He is former managing director of the $15 billion Tiger hedge fund.

Other panelists will include TJCA-CFA Headmaster Joe Maimone; and TJCA-CFA economics faculty teacher Tim Will, former director of Foothills Connect in Rutherford County,
