United Way kick-off luncheon is Thursday
Accomplished humorist and dramatist Renea Henderson from Asheboro will be the keynote speaker at United Way’s Fall Campaign Kickoff Luncheon on Thursday, September 26 at 12 p.m. in the Life Enrichment Center at Florence Baptist Church in Forest City.
Henderson shares family entertainment and Christian ministry through a mixture of comedy, drama, music and motivational speaking. She says she enjoys making people laugh but wants to do more than cause people to hold their sides and wipe tears laughing with joy, she also wants to drive home the importance and vital points of joyful living.
United Way Executive Director Faye Hassell said, “United Way is all about helping others. It’s time to kick off our annual campaign and we’d like for it to be a celebration. Helping others should make us feel good and Renea will remind us of that. Knowing that a small, or large, gift to United Way will help make life better for someone in need is indeed something to celebrate.”
Hassell continued, “over the past few years our campaign has suffered due to the lack of jobs and poor economy. We certainly have a lot of caring people in our county and I think it’s time to put a smile back on and try to generate more enthusiasm about helping others.”
Anyone interested in attending the luncheon should contact the United Way at 286-3929 and register by Tuesday, Sept. 24. The cost for lunch is $10 per person.
