Former Food Lion property offered to Forest City
Town Council will discuss the vacant Food Lion shopping center, located off Oak Street, when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday at the Cool Springs Administrative Office on West Main Street.
The property owner said he will donate the property to the Town of Forest City if the town agrees on certain terms and conditions.
Among terms are receiving the donation by a special warranty deed, the donor will prepare a proposed deed at its sole cost and expense, the town will be responsible for applicable revenue stamps and recording fees and the town will accept the property by Dec. 31, 2013.
Also Monday, council will discuss a proposed revision to the town's Intoxicating Beverage Ordinance. A person wishing to serve spirituous liquor at a specific event must receive licenses for the event from the Town of Forest City and permits from the state's Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission.
At last months' meeting, council discussed changing the ordinance after a business owner asked if liquor could be served at a event at the Forest City Clubhouse. Only beer and wine are allowed.
Also Monday night, Council will discuss a lease purchasing agreement, the Forest City Little League and the Central Business Sewer Rehabilitation change order.
Council will hold a closed session at the end of regular business.
