Harris-Henrietta Road closing today
Weather permitting, the N.C. Department of Transportation will close Harris-Henrietta Road between U.S. 221 and Hogan Road near Harris in Rutherford County today at 6 p.m. until Saturday evening, Nov. 2.
The closure is necessary for crews to construct a new intersection at U.S. 221 and Harris-Henrietta Road.
During the closure, motorists traveling Harris-Henrietta Road are asked to use Jack McKinney Road to Hogan Road to Harris-Henrietta Road, or alternate U.S. 221 to Hogan Road to Harris-Henrietta Road.
The work is part of a $66.1 million project to widen U.S. 221 from the South Carolina state line to north of the U.S. 74 Bypass in Rutherford County. The project contractor is DeVere Construction Co. of Alpena, Mich.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
