Puzzle Creek Outdoor Company will be hosting a women's only Diva Night complete with complementary bra fittings, hors d'oeuvres and glasses of wine on Saturday, Sept. 28 beginning at 5 p.m.

"This is our first ever Diva Night and it came about through just talking with our local female athletes," said Jerred Roberts, owner of Puzzle Creek Outdoor who planned the event with his wife and co-owner Brandie. "As a man, I thought that for a runner all you need is a pair of running shoes and for a cyclist a bike is what's most important. But I realized that for women, having a good sports bra is just as essential as having a good pair of running shoes or bike."

Puzzle Creek Outdoor looked at several different women's active wear and bra companies and discovered the California-based company Moving Comfort, which offers a bra for any size woman engaged in any type of activity.

Moving Comfort is an all-woman company that strives to make sports bras that are not only effective and comfortable but that also aim to change the way women think about their active wear.

"We did a lot of research on Moving Comfort. In our opinion, they offer one of the best solutions for active women and we are excited to be partnering with them and introducing them to our local market," Jerred said. "We figured a good way to launch our new partnership and let women know about it was to hold a Diva Night."

Saturday's event will feature five different styles of sports bras in various colors, all available for purchase.

Puzzle Creek Outdoor is also partnering with Relay for Life during the event. Customers can take a 15 percent discount on their sports bras or give the difference directly to Relay for Life.

The donations to Relay for Life will stay in Rutherford County to fund education and awareness programs, according to Maria Hunnicutt, a countywide co-chair of Relay for Life Rutherford County.

"We appreciate partnerships with companies like Puzzle Creek that are community minded," Hunnicutt said, in a statement. "There's a huge tie in between fitness and cancer prevention. I am a distance runner and a cancer survivor, and I know first-hand the benefits of living an active lifestyle. Working with Puzzle Creek on an event like Diva Night is a great partnership."

While being fitted for new sports bras, participants can enjoy hors d'oeuvres and glasses of wine or sparkling cider provided by Rumour Has It wine bar in Rutherfordton. Attendees will also receive discount certificates from Plum Natural Market in Forest City for their cosmetics line.

Founded in 2010, Puzzle Creek specializes in cycling, running, hiking and camping expertise and equipment, with the goal of inspiring others to find their "missing peace" through outdoor activity.

"Without the proper sports bra, women can injure themselves and develop a lot of soreness due to connective tissues being stretched," Jerred said, "and if they get sore, they may not be able to exercise as intensely as they want to or even exercise at all. If we can help alleviate this problem by getting our female customers properly fitted, it will better help them achieve their fitness goals."
