Over 10,000 plastic easter eggs will be raining on the McNair Field Sunday.

Element Church in Forest City will hold their fifth annual Easter church service and Easter Egg Drop on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.

“We want to reach out to people that might not choose to be in church that morning. We want to reach people far from God and reproduce disciples one life at a time,” said Craig Blanton, administrative pastor. “We want to go out to the people instead of waiting for them to come to us.”

Plastic eggs, filled with candy and toys, will be dropped on the field from a helicopter for children after a brief church service.

According to Blanton, last year’s event brought out around 3,000 people.

“We are hoping we will have many more. It has continued to grow every Easter. The best part is seeing the faces of all the kids when they are excited and pumped, especially when they hear the roar of the helicopter,” Blanton said.

After dropping the eggs at McNair the helicopter will continue Shelby, where another branch of the Element Church is located, for another egg drop.

“My favorite part about this is to have people come to an event where they are able to walk away knowing how Jesus feels about them. It’s not our duty to be the Holy Spirit, it’s our duty to do what we can to reach people,” Blanton said. “We are just trying to be a church that reaches out to people, especially on Easter Sunday.”
