Jason Greene, 19, was taken to Rutherford Regional Medical Center Thursday afternoon for treatment of injuries he sustained when he ran off Beams Mill Road near Ellenboro and crashed his motorcycle into the side of a yard.

North Carolina Highway Patrolman John Horton said he was transporting  Greene to the hospital. "He is being charged," Horton said at the scene.

Horton said he was trying to pull Greene over for a routine traffic stop as Greene was speeding on U.S. 221A near Cliffside. But when Greene apparently saw Horton, he took over and at times was driving over 130 mph from Cliffside to the Beams Mill/Webb Church road intersection before the motorcycle slid down.

Greene was not seriously injured.

Horton said he teen faces numerous charges including speeding, fleeing arrest and no tag. Assisting at the scene in addition to Highway Patrol were Ellenboro firefighters, sheriff's officers, Rutherford County EMS and traffic control.
