Ellenboro, Lake Lure, Airport Authority board meetings

ELLENBORO — When Ellenboro Aldermen met for the regular meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, it will be the first full meeting for newly sworn-in alderman, Lisa Lawson. She took the oath of office at the January meeting and will fill the remaining year of John Morrow's term. He moved out of city limits and has resigned his position.

If she chooses, Lawson can run for the seat in Nov. 2013. Morrow's term was four years. 

Also Tuesday night, aldermen will discuss the landfill use fees with Bunt Black and will address several street maintenance issues. 


Lake Lure to discuss county-wide sewer study


LAKE LURE — Lake Lure Town Council will make a decision regarding participation in the county-wide sewer study when it meets Tuesday night. The potential study will be discussed during the regular meeting of town council at 7 p.m. at Lake Lure Municipal center.

Rutherford County, Rutherfordton and Spindale have voted to participate in the study, but Forest City has not decided.

Council will also discuss strategy and recommendations concerning the town's boat fleet.

Council will also consider an ordinance regarding the code ordinances regarding adding penalities for multiple false fire alarms.


Property acquisition up for discussion


RUTHERFORDTON — Property acquisition will be discussed behind closed doors at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday when the airport authority meets for its regular business meeting at the airport.

Also Tuesday afternoon, the board will also receive a report regarding maintenance issues, fuel sales, and hangar sales in open session.
