County schools recognized by PBIS

Apr. 13, 2014 @ 04:45 AM

Three schools in Rutherford County were recognized by the Exceptional Children Division of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction at the annual Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) Initiative Workshop & Recognition.

Schools applied to earn recognition by submitting multiple reports documenting that they met implementation criteria. Rutherford County Schools has been a part of that state-wide PBIS Initiative since 2006, and works to improve PBIS implementation through ongoing evaluation. This is the fifth year that schools from Rutherford County have earned state PBIS Recognition. Schools earning recognition include Rutherfordton Elementary School (Green Ribbon School), Cliffside Elementary School (Model School) and Ellenboro Elementary School (Exemplar School).

PBIS is a framework of intervention practices, decision-making tools and organizational systems used to establish the positive and productive learning environment needed for all students to achieve success.
