The East Rutherford Cavalier Speech and Debate team was named a top 30 school in the state for its forensic program during the the Tarheel Forensic League's North Carolina State Championship Tournament hosted by North Mecklenburg High School March 22-23.

"I'm very proud of this Cavalier team. The program is still small but I'm hoping it will continue to grow," said Coach J. Patrick Moss. "I have excellent support from Mr. (Brad) Teague and the rest of the administration. I believe my students do a good job of representing East and Rutherford County as a whole."

East Rutherford's duo interpretation team of Shelby Carter and Nicole Shaffer were semi-finalists and are ranked top twelve in the state for that event. Teammate Stephen Burgin accrued enough points to achieve a degree of honor with the National Forensic League.
