Groundbreaking scheduled for NC Research Center
A North Carolina information technology company and the developer of the N.C. Research Campus are getting together for a groundbreaking ceremony.
The Salisbury Post reports DataChambers and developer Castle & Cooke are scheduled to break ground Tuesday at 11 a.m. for the 50,000-square-foot data center.
Speakers will include DataChambers CEO Nicholas L. Kottyan and David H. Murdock, Research Campus founder and chairman and CEO of Castle & Cooke and Dole Food Company.
DataChambers announced the decision to expand into the Charlotte region in June, selecting the Research Campus for its access to Interstate 85 and proximity to the Charlotte and Concord airports.
The company currently operates data centers in Winston-Salem and Raleigh. The Kannapolis facility is scheduled to be completed by mid-2014 and will employ up to 30 people.
