Elevator rides to top of rock could be soon

Electrical repairs on the elevator at Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park are underway and if the project goes as planned, the work could be completed by the middle of October.

Contractors are installing larger gauge electrical wires and replacing electronic panels to fix the power issues. The 26-story elevator transports guests to the Sky Lounge and Chimney level. The Chimney is still accessible by hiking the Outcroppings stairs. The Sky Lounge Gift Shop & Deli is  closed no power since there is not power, but Cliff Dwellers Gifts is open.

Until the repairs are completed, admission rates have been reduced to $12 adult and $6 youth (ages 5-15). Children age 4 and under are admitted free.

The Hickory Nut Falls trail is still closed due to the significant rockslide last November, but work is continuing.
