Tax remaining same in Chimney Rock Village

There is no tax increase proposed for property and business owners in Chimney Rock Village. 

Village Council meets  7:30 p.m. today  and is expected to adopt the 2013-14 fiscal year budget. The budget is being balanced with a tax rate of 7.5 cents per $100 property valuation. The Municipal Service District taxes are also proposed to be the same as last year at 6 cents per $100 property valuation. 

Residents will have an opportunity to discuss the budget during a public hearing.

Council will also conduct a public hearing on the Comprehensive Transportation Plan developed by the North Carolina Department of Transportation. It was adopted by Lake Lure Commissioners at their last meeting. 

Board members will also continue its Public Hearing on the Tourism Business Zoning District change.

Also  Tina Owen will make a presentation to council regarding the building of the Mountain Area Health Education Center/Lake Lure Professional Park off N.C. 9 near Ingles market.

Also Mayor Barbara Meliski and business owner Steve Gale will discuss two separate property acuistions.

The meeting will be held in the Chimney Rock Fire Department meeting area.
