Christmas events continuing across county

Cliffside, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock and Forest City

A WinterFest begins Friday at 5 p.m. in the Hickory Nut Gorge and continues on Saturday also beginning at 5 p.m. The events are from 5 to 9 p.m. each day and include the towns of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock.

Events include hay rides between Lake Lure and Chimney Rock a a cost of $5 per person or $20 per family.

Trolley tours will start at the Lake Lure Inn & Spa and tickets are also $5 per person and $20 per family.

A Wonderland Gift Shop for children will be open both evenings in the Lake Lure Welcome Center

A bonfire and s'mores on the beach at Lake Lure will begin at 5:30 p.m. each day and will end at 7:30 p.m.

Hot chocolate and cider, the Flowering Bridge Christmas decor and Village decorations will also be a part of the festivals.

The weekend of winter fun is sponsored by The Chamber of the Hickory Nut Gorge.


Caroling around the Town Clock in Cliffside

CLIFFSIDE — Cliffside's annual Christmas festivities (cancelled last week due to inclement weather) begin at 5 p.m. with a Christmas parade beginning at Cliffside Elementary School and moving to the Main Street area of Cliffside.

More than 40 lighted Christmas trees and luminaries will decorate the area. The trees and luminaries are in honor and in memory of loved ones.

Christmas carols and other special music will be presented at the Town Clock.
