Council will consider property rezoning issue
The Pendergraph Companies in Raleigh is requesting the Forest City Town Council to consider rezoning property at Piney Ridge Road to allow multi-family dwellings for persons 55 and older.
There will be a request Monday night from the Planning & Adjustment Board for a public hearing to consider their recommendation to consider the request for the property described as Cottage at Forest City. The property requested is from C-3 Highway Business District to CU R-8 Medium Density Residential for multi-family. If Council approves, the public hearing will be March 18.
In another matter from the town's Board of Planning & Adjustment, Jimmy Clay will ask council to consider a recommendation from the staff that all rezoning, conditional use permits, special use district rezoning and text amendments be submitted 30 days prior to the board meeting to allow time to prepare the staff reports.
Council will receive an agreement between NC DOT and the Town of Forest City for the Oak Street Sidewalk Extension Project. In January, Council approved increasing the town's match for the extension from $28,750 to $33,000. The sidewalk section being discussed from Hardin Road to Fuji Yama Restaurant. DOT plans to contract for additional work from Fuji Yama to Burger King and a second contract from Burger King to Retro Cinema. Those two contracts will be 100 percent NC DOT funded.
Council will also consider approving a resolution to participate in the Rutherford County/Municipalitie Joint Sewer Study.
There will be a closed session to discuss personnel issues.
Festival plans in Bostic
BOSTIC — When Bostic Commissioners meet at 6 p.m. Monday they will discuss a spring festival on April 20 in celebration of the Bostic Lincoln Center.
It will be the first festival and commissioners will receive some of the finals plans about the event.
