The year 2012 brought many faces across the pages of The Daily Courier. Some photos represented new life; others the end of life. Rutherford County, along with North Carolinians and the world, bid goodbye to Andy Griffith, Doc Watson and Earl Scruggs, who passed away, after decades of entertaining the world, and home folks. Some pictures told our readers of young athletes, doing well in golf; and a U.S. Olympian, who refused to give up inspite of a broken leg. Others showed the goodness of volunteers and the end of careers for North Carolina’s only brother and sister on the State Patrol Force. Photos also depicted the best in history volunteers — preserving the grave sites of Revolutionary War soldiers — and carrying the gospel to the crossroads.
