More than 160 volunteers from First United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton and Second Baptist Church in Rutherfordton joined hands recently for the sixth annual Operation Inasmuch project.

The volunteers were divided into six teams where they worked on several projects on Saturday April 27.

Projects included interior and exterior home repairs like repairing cracked concrete, building a porch, repairing bathroom plumbing, replacing doors and door frames, house cleaning and yard work, delivering food to shut-ins, visiting nursing homes with choir singers supported  Grace of God Mission, Hands of Hope for Life, PATH House, and Yokefellow House.

Over the past five years, First United Methodist Church has contributed over 1,000 “person-days” of service to the community during Operation Inasmuch, its annual, one-day mission project.

Since 2012, FUMC has partnered with Second Baptist Church of Rutherfordton to extend even more outreach to the community.

“Based on the scripture Matthew 25:40 that reads, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me,” this annual service event challenges members in the church and others in the community to be the hands and feet of Christ throughout Rutherford County,” said a church member.
