Keeping movie making in North Carolina
The annual Dirty Dancing Festival in Lake Lure brought about 1,000 people to see the movie on the big screen Friday night at Morse Park. Among special guests was NC Secretary of State Elaine Marshall who presented opening remarks. Among other visitors were staff from The Wall Street Journal, who covered the event for a future article on the NC film industry’s tax incentives that are under attack. The family dance festival on Saturday brought visitors from across the country including Texas, Georgia, Indiana and California. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit PANCAN, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, which is the disease that took Patrick Swayze’s life.
