First Baptist will install new pastor Sunday

RUTHERFORDTON - First Baptist Church will install a new pastor Sunday.

   Rev. Tim Marsh of Taylorsville will be installed at 3 p.m. in a service in the sanctuary of the church, 246 N. Main Street.

   Marsh, a native of Birmingham, Ala., graduated from Samford University in Birmingham and received graduate degrees from Beeson Divinity School of Samford University in 2003 and the Divinity School of Duke University in 2007. He has served churches in Elon, NC, and Jasper, Hueytown and Birmingham in Alabama. Since 2008, he was the senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Taylorsville. While in Taylorsville, he worked with the Alexander County Partnership for Children, the Domestic Violence Resource Center, and was a soccer coach with the county recreation department. He serves on the Board of Ministers of Gardner-Webb University.

   He and his wife, Rebecca, have two children: John Alan, 8, and Natalie, 4.

   A reception will follow the installation service in the Fellowship Hall. The public is invited to the service and the reception.

   First Baptist Church was established in Rutherfordton in 1851 and has been active in local, regional and international missions throughout its history.
